If any of our families were visiting in Boston last month, please be advised that a volunteer at the New England Aquarium has been diagnosed with the measles. By report he was working on 5/19 and 5/22, potentially exposing up to 6000 people.  Visitors on these days are advised to check their immunization status and follow-up with their primary care providers if they have any concerns.

Symptoms of measles may be seen 7-14 days following exposure and may include fever, runny nose, and a characteristic rash.  (Good pictures can be found here http://www.cdc.gov/measles/about/photos.html)  This is just another reminder of how important it is to vaccinate our children.  Measles vaccine is usually given to children 12-15 months of age, with a booster before kindergarten.  Feel free to call with any questions.
