The Connecticut Department of Public Health released new immunization requirements last week for school and pre-K programs. Unfortunately, these requirements will be in effect as of August 1st, 2011, so it is important for people who may have already had their annual physical to know that the requirements have changed.
Important changes include:
All students born after 1/1/07 will need Hepatitis A vaccine to enter pre-K or kindergarten in the fall.
All students entering kindergarten or 7th grade must have two doses of chicken pox vaccine.
All students entering 7th grade must also have Tdap (tetanus) and meningococcal vaccine.
If your child has already had their entrance physical for pre-K, kindergarten, or 7th grade, you may want to check their vaccine records. Or call us to be sure they do not need any additional (previously optional) vaccines.
